About the EPA 608 Certification Exam
To purchase refrigerants of any kind, you will need to be EPA Certified. The EPA 608 Certification Exam is divided into 4 Sections of 25 questions. A passing grade of 70% is required for each section to become Universal Certified. You can take the EPA exam as many times as you would like and only have to retake the sections that you have not passed yet, though most technicians take the entire exam at once and go from there. The only material you can use during the exam is a calculator, scrap paper provided by the testing center and the pressure / temperature chart. You can find a test center at your local HVAC distribution center.
